The violin is a very dynamic instrument. It is almost as universal as the guitar even if it is not as primary. It has been around since the 17th century. Since then the violin has been apart of Jazz, bluegrass, and folk music. It is becomming more common in main stream music like the Dave Matthews Band and Andrew Bird. I enjoy the warmth and emotion a violin can express. I also enjoy how much fun it can be to play.
